Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Mulliner, Bentley's bespoke coachbuilding unit, has designed a distinctive keycase to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bentley. It is made of Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes an eagle-like "B" paperweight keys, as well as a booklet featuring never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.
This is a great way to welcome a new vehicle owner.
Aesthetics
As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics extremely seriously. This is evident in the precise placement of its quilting, the use of leather from cattle by-products, the wood from sustainably-managed forests, and the ingenuous patterns of its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its sculptural beauty is displayed through carefully selected lighting.
The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever built. Its rear tonneau, for example, showcased the largest piece of book-matched, dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to a production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.
It is this unique design, craftsmanship and attention to detail that have established Bentley as the world's most desirable automotive brand. The company continues to push boundaries with the latest technologies and craftsmanship. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear window sunroof, as well as a custom-designed Apple iPad docking station.
A century after its inception, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership following years of wrangling with BMW - celebrated its centenary in the year 2019. Prior to pandemic planning taking the center stage, the company had a number of special events and launches planned to celebrate the occasion.
Design
Bentley is a luxury car maker that produces extravagant and luxurious vehicles. But even the keys make a statement. The Bentayga Key is made of sterling silver and features an enormous B' logo to inform everyone that you're a Bentley. The key is also decorated with the years 1919 and 2019, to mark the company’s centenary.
Bentley Mulliner reinvented and designed the Mulsanne to be the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. It has two opposing pairs of rear seats designed to be reminiscent of luxury private aviation, providing passengers with unparalleled comfort and security. A customized heating, ventilation and air conditioning system has been developed to give each passenger the ideal climate control setting.
The Mulsanne features twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that produces 560bhp and 479lb-ft torque. This incredible power is complemented by a new suspension system which provides Bentley's renowned smooth ride.
In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a custom-designed specification known as the Centenary Specification for vehicles built in 2019. The cabin has cross-stitching, and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered with Centenary Gold, adding to the feeling of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a custom Bentley keycase, adding to the Bentley experience.
Function
The Bentley Mulsanne key comes with an opening button for the trunk and a second button that turns on the car. It also has a switch to activate the parking break. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spaces. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.
Each key takes two days to create. It is cut by hand shape, sewn, sealed and polished to give an extremely high-end finish. It is sturdy, compact, and fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's big car key, but it feels more heavy and premium.

Secure-A-Key is also included to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is inserted into the remote control key fob and stops it after a couple of minutes of inactivity, which prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which can unlock and start the vehicle.
new bentley key is a reflection of the values of the company that include fine craftsmanship engineering expertise and cutting-edge technologies. Its headquarters in Crewe is home to more than 4000 employees who are responsible for the design, development, and production of Bentley vehicles. Personalisation
Bentley's bespoke division, Mulliner, allows customers to essentially design their own vehicle. The guests sit at a collection of images, referred to "mood stations" and pick a collection of photos ranging from picturesque landscapes to sporting events that can inspire them. Every time a choice is made the pattern that emerges shows the model preference for color, style and design for the custom Bentley.
The resulting configuration is stored on individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards, which are presented to the guests in a custom key case. The keys can also be fitted with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening pathway with the owner's name or emblem when they make their way towards the vehicle.
Bentley estimates that it takes around 500 man-hours to build and put together the Mulsanne. The main reason for this lengthy effort is a reluctance to embrace modern tech. Instead of using a machine to place the perfectly matched cross-stitched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. And rather than letting the car's built in sensors guide it into parallel and perpendicular parking spaces drivers must do it by hand.
Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities in the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley.
